FDA approved weight loss pills are a safer alternative compared to some of the so-called weight loss pills available.

Weight loss continues to be a common goal among people across the globe. For those who are considered obese, or on the verge of obesity, there are a variety of FDA approved weight loss pills that can be prescribed. There is also a weight loss pill that can be purchased over the counter that has been approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). With the use of any of these products, it’s important that they are taken as prescribed or as directed on the packaging in the case of over-the-counter products. Serious health risks can occur if they are used incorrectly or in excess.

Xenical

Xenical is used to actually block fat that has been consumed, preventing it from being absorbed by the body. It’s normal to feel the following side effects: oily stool, increased number of bowel movements, nausea, vomiting, rectal pain, loose stools, discharge on undergarments and gas including discharge. These side effects will normally decrease in occurrence after Xenical has been taken for some time. If any side effects become bothersome or unusual, speak with a doctor right away.

Alli

Alli is an over-the-counter FDA approved weight loss pill and is basically Xenical, but with about half the strength. It works in the same way Xenical does, by blocking some of the fat that is eaten. It’s used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and weight maintenance program. Regular exercise is also recommended for best results. It’s important that meals eaten during the day do not consist of more than 30% fat. Taking Alli in conjunction with eating a diet high in fat can worsen side effects and problems with the stomach and intestines can occur. Alli users can expect side effects similar to those of Xenical.

Meridia

Meridia is considered to be a short term supplement in the treatment of obesity and is to be used with a reduced calorie diet. Restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, headache, dizziness or constipation may occur. Stop taking Meridia immediately if allergic reactions or seizures occur and notify a doctor immediately.

Phentermine

Phentermine is a stimulant similar to amphetamine that is actually an appetite suppressant. Possible side effects include: feeling nervous or anxious, dizziness, headache, insomnia, diarrhea and constipation. Phentermine is a commonly abused drug and withdrawal symptoms may occur if use is stopped after a long period of time.

It’s always best to eat a healthy diet and participate in regular physical activity with the use of diet pills. This will always yield the best results. As when taking any kind of medication or supplement, side effects may occur. If side effects become serious, are prolonged or bothersome, speak with a doctor right away.
