Brazilian Diet pills promise great weight loss in a short time span. The real truth is great weight loss with the risk of major health problems from the ingredients.

In the ongoing fight to lose weight, many people are turning to the Internet and to medications manufactured overseas. The latest rage in the diet pill phenomena is the Brazilian Diet Pill. These pills are touted across the Internet as being a miracle weight loss drug that cause rapid weight loss and are all natural. The FDA says otherwise.

These Brazilian diet pills are being sold under the names Emagrece Slim Dietary Supplement and Herbathin Dietary Supplement. They are not approved by the FDA in the United States for sale as a dietary supplement or weight loss product.

According to the FDA’s website news release these supplements may contain controlled substances that are normally found in prescription medications. The medications that have been found in these Brazilian Diet Pills, according to the FDA’s testing, include:

  • Chlordiazepoxide HCI (this is the active ingredient in Librium, a benzodiazepine for treating anxiety). This drug can be habit forming and has potentially dangerous side effects, such as sleepiness and dizziness.
  • Fluoxetine HCI (this is the active ingredient in Prozac, used for treating depression). Prozac has been shown to have serious drug interactions and has been involved in several court cases involving suicide and other abnormal behaviors.
  • Fenproporex – a stimulant that has not been approved for use in the United States, this drug shows up in the body as an amphetamine and can cause drug tests to yield a false positive for amphetamine.

These are just a few of the drugs that have been found in the Brazilian Diet pills. According to Allan Coukell of the Boston NPR, these dietary supplements are a ‘risky cocktail” with as many as 17 different drugs combined in one pill. They can be habit forming and possibly life ending.

The Skinny Truth

The Internet is a clearing house for wonder drugs for every known ailment, from weight loss to arthritis. Using dietary supplements that have not been tested on humans is not just risky, it’s just plain not smart. The majority of these supplements have not been tested for short term or long term effects.

There are medications to assist people in curbing their appetites if they just can’t do it on their own; however, they are prescribed by a doctor who monitors other health factors and takes into consideration any medications the patient is currently taking.

The skinny truth about weight loss is that people have to control their appetite, add exercise to their daily routine and stick with it for life. Miracle drugs do not exist and people are putting their health or even life at risk by purchasing these so- called miracle drugs. Don’t fall victim to the Brazilian Diet pill’s promises.
