Medi Weight Loss Clinic is great for people who want to lose weight and learn to eat and live healthier. If someone is considering the program, here's the scoop!

The Medi Weight Loss Clinics offer a medically supervised weight loss program that includes weekly weigh-ins, an appointment with a nutritionist, diet advice, nutritional supplements, an appetite suppressant and vitamin B12 injections. At the initial consultation, health is evaluated by taking blood pressure, a comprehensive blood panel, EKG, weight and body fat index.

Following the initial consultation, the Medi Weight Loss patient meets weekly with her medical advisor to evaluate progress and get a B12 injection. In between evaluation appointments, one additional optional B12 injection is included. The schedule might be Tuesday B12 injection (5 minute appointment), and Friday evaluation, weigh in, and another B12 injection.

The Three Phases of the Medi-Weightloss Program

Phase I: Medi-Weight Loss Acute Phase

At the start of the initial acute phase of the diet, each patient meets with a member of the medical team weekly and is supplied with a diet suppressant. The diet on week one is very restricted, 500 calories of lean protein only. The program after that initial week continues that same level of protein, but adds 2 cups of vegetables, or 1 cup vegetables and 1 cup fruit. Around week three, a daily snack is allowed. This phase lasts until the target weight is reached.

Three thirty minute aerobics workouts a week are part of the program's exercise requirements.

Phase II: Medi-Weight Loss Short Term Maintenance Phase

Once weight goal is reached, the weekly consultations continue as the Medical staff helps each patient transition into adding calories and additional exercise. At this phase, they begin to integrate techniques for maintaining weight loss and wean the patient off the appetite suppressant.

Phase III – Wellness Phase

This phase is available to each patient to help avoid the disappointment of regaining the pounds lost during the program. The medical team provides consultation on nutrition, exercise, medical and motivational issues. The program is designed as a lifetime fitness program and not just a diet.

Cooking and Recipes for the Medi Weight Loss Acute Phase

Medi Weight Loss Clinics do not sell meals. Instead, each week, Medi Weight Loss provides tips, tools and recipes. They recommend healthy snacks, and supply grocery shopping lists. One of the challenges on any weight loss program is keeping the diet interesting and palatable enough that the old ways of eating don’t start creeping back up. Using the Medi Weight Loss principles, their patient will need to develop a recipe book that includes healthy recipes as she progresses in the program.

Medi Weight Loss sells low calorie, nutritious protein bars and protein drink mix, which are great for a meal substitute, but their food is not required for the programs.

The diet is high protein, low carbohydrate and low fat, similar to the South Beach, so South Beach recipes and foods will usually fit into the program, as long as the recipe is also low fat. Diabetic sites, such as diabetic-recipes.com are another good source of recipes that will fit into the program.

Since the program isn’t about crash dieting, each Medi Weight Loss patient learns how to change their attitude and eating habits that will last well past the dieting period. She develops a taste for different foods, finding creative ways to replace high carbohydrate, high fat recipes and meals with healthier alternatives. Here’s an example of an alternative to eating an old potato favorite.

Wow...that first week is restrictive. How hard was it to stay on the plan without 'cheating'?

I just went for the first time and was really impressed with the service that I received. I paid $260 and used my flex account. I'll be interested to see if I can make it through the program.

I am in the second phase of the program. From personal experience, the first few days were tough. However, once I got into the routine, I quite thinking about it. Because you see great results (if you stick to it), it motivates you to continue sticking to the program. The not cheating part is all mental--not physical. You simply put foods out of your mind that aren't on the program. It's all about commitment. You either are or you're not. It's a personal choice.

I started 3 weeks ago. My starting price was $97.00 for and ekg and 72.00 for the pills and blood check..Not too bad...Every week I go for a b-12 shot. I have lost 7 pounds so far. But You need to eat only 1300 a day. Every month is $72.00. So far this is the only diet plan that is actually working for me..

I have been on the program for a month now. I have lost 22 pounds in that time. Although I was technically obese when I began the program, I was not on overly huge person. I must admit that the first few days were rough. I had headaches and felt like I was going through withdrawals. I actually was now that I think about it. Once you get into the routine of things, it gets easier. I kicked the suppressants after a week and a half though. I've never been one for medications. Although my appetite did increase when I stopped taking them, it was not that bad. I still have food cravings by way of carbs, but I just put it out of my head. It just isn't allowed. I have my fifth week weigh in today, so I will see what the results are for week #5. My goal was to lose 40-50 pounds in all. I am half way there. I'm excited and feeling great!!!

I signed my daughter in law up and she is doing great. It was tough for her in the beginning. Start up fee was initial cost of $268 and now $80 to $100. week which includes vitamins and two shots a week. She is on a very diligent exercise program 6 nights of 1-1/2 hours hiking or yoga/pilates and after 2 months has lost about 30 lbs.

My husband and I started the program 5 days ago. The doc told us to stay between 800-1200 calories the first week, not 500. Its based on your weight. My husband was 245 and I was 220 at the initial weigh-in. Its been 5 days with us mostly staying at 800-1000 calories, and hes now 232 and Im 211 only after 5 days. I couldnt imagine just eating 500 calories. The vitamins and B12 help with apeptite control. The first 3 days I did have headaches and felt really weak and not myself, but its day 5 and im feeling pretty good. The menu for the first week includes Whey Protien shakes, which I drink every morning and as a afternoon snack which helps a great bit. The program will supply you with a menu for the first week to get you jump started.. if you follow it excatly, its 500 cal. but we doubled some of the portions to meet our 800-1200 limit. On some days I really feel like im forcing myself to eat! - I really reccomend the diet though. We were the typical fat lazy couple that sat on the couch every night ordering pizza and fast food, never working out... So if we can do it.. anyone can..lol
