Lose Weight Safely With IrvingiaA Seed From Africa Proves to be an Easy Way to Fat Loss
Studies show that the nut from the African bush mango, Irvingia gabonensis, contains a powerful way for obese people to lose weight easily.
A top medical researcher startled the gathering at the October 2008 Functional Foods for Chronic Disease conference by announcing the discovery of an extract that is rapidly becoming one of the best weight loss products currently known. Dr. Julius Oben, Head of the Laboratory of Nutrition and Nutritional Biochemistry at the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon, presented the results of a study in which participants took an extract from the seed of the Irvingia gabonensis fruit. In the double-blind study, participants who took the extract showed an average fat loss of 28 pounds over 10 weeks, while the control group, taking an oat bran placebo, saw only an average fat loss of 1.5 pounds. Participants in Dr. Oben’s study who took the weight loss extract also showed dramatic improvements in blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure. Easy Way to Lose WeightParticipants in the study were instructed to make no significant changes to their current eating or exercise levels and take the dietary extract twice a day. Dr. Oben’s research among African tribal populations found that certain groups who used the nut of the Irvingia gabonensis fruit, commonly known as “bush mango” or “ogbono”, to thicken soups were much leaner and healthier than other neighbouring groups who did not use the Irvingia nut. The Irvingia extract is believed to affect the action of the leptin hormones that affect hunger levels in the body. Obese people have been shown to be more sensitive to the hormone, causing them to feel hunger more often. Daily consumption of Irvingia will ease hunger and cause a natural weight loss from eating less. Healthy Way to Lose WeightThe Irvingia nut is a water-soluble fibre that is a natural bulk-forming laxative. Like other water-soluble fibres, Irvingia slows the process of food through the stomach, allows a gradual absorption of food and delays the onset of hunger pains, making it a comfortable way to lose weight by eating less. The Irvingia tree grows in the tropical rainforests of the African countries Senegal, Nigeria, Angola and Uganda. The seed is ground and mixed with meats and vegetables or used in soups as a thickener. Recipes for Ogbono Soup can be found in a variety of sites on the Internet. Some people have reported finding the aroma and flavour of the nut too overpowering. Capsule supplements made from Irvingia extract can also be purchased. The initial results are promising. Irvingia gabonensis may prove to be a powerful food that will help overweight people lose fat quickly and improve their overall health at the same time.
