Aside from being a fantastic recording artist, dancer and actress, Madonna amazes many because of her ability to maintain her figure. Although she is over 50 and a mother of two, her perfect figure and fabulous abs are envied by many. On top of it all, her face does not betray her age. For this reason, many women are dying to know her secret.

The Secret is Out!

Madonna's secret is revealed by her trainer, Tracy Anderson, in US Magazine. Although people are usually advised to lose two pounds a week in order to lose weight safely, she believes that it is possible for people to safely lose twenty pounds in six weeks just by following her suggested diet and exercise program which have been tested on one hundred women over the past five years.

The Diet

The diet is meant to last until you've lost the number of pounds that you want to shed. While you're on this short term diet, you are not allowed to eat processed food and spices that can cause bloating. You should also refrain from adding oils and sauces to your meal as these can add to your calorie intake. Alcohol and caffeine are also not allowed.

While on this diet, everything that you eat should be organic. It should consist of lean protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. The proteins that you eat should mostly come from plants. Instead of artificial sweeteners, natural sweeteners like maple syrup, rice syrup and malt should be used. At the same time, you should drink 1.5 to 3 liters per day.

The Exercise Program

According to Anderson, the program should be changed constantly in order to achieve the desired result. Since your body will not be bored by doing the same routine everyday, the tends to burn more energy because it is challenged by the work out.

  • The first week starts with 20 minutes of circuit training wherein several cardio activities are done during this period of time. The trainer recommends using a 20-minute playlist to signal when each activity would start. A new physical activity should be done each time a new song starts. Three different types of crunches are done after that: 50 crunches with your legs straight, 50 crunches with your legs at a 90-degree angle and 60 reps with your legs spread apart. Toning exercises involve doing 100 to 200 repetitions for each arm and leg exercise in the program.
  • For the second week to the sixth week, the cardio activity is increased by 10 minutes per week. They are coupled with the same amount of crunches and toning exercises.
