Overcome The Weight Loss ChallengeHow to Lose That Weight and Keep It OffDec 25, 2008 Angie Rentmeester
Losing weight has always been a challenge for many people, but it doesn't have to be anymore. Now you can overcome that challenge and lose that weight!
Weight loss hasn’t always been an easy task for some people. People struggle every day with trying everything we can to shed a few or several pounds. At times people get frustrated and just give up on trying to lose the weight. Here are some ways to over come the weight loss challenge. ExerciseThis is something people hear all the time but it’s the truth, the key to any weight loss is through exercise. In order to lose weight and keep it off, a minimum of five 30 minutes sessions per week is needed. Pick an exercise that's fun, because it won't be difficult to stick with that routine. Basic gym members are affordable and well worth signing up for. Weight training is a little different because of the huge benefits weight training has to offer when it comes to losing weight. Basically, the more muscles tissue a person has, the more calories that person is going to burn. The reason is because muscle is an active tissue and fat, well, isn’t. This is why your muscles will burn more calories each day for its own maintenance. Pilates is one of the best exercises to strengthen the body’s core. Pilates classes are available at most gyms, but if the gym doesn’t offer it, just pop in a Pilates DVD and enjoy a great workout. Just remember to purchase a mat. Stressed about work and bills? Yoga is a meditative exercise that helps build muscles from holding some difficult poses. This will help someone get relaxed and get toned all at the same time. Spin classes are amazing! Cycling will help you shed pounds and get your legs nice and firm. Many gyms and community colleges will offer spin classes for reasonable prices. If possible, purchase bike, crank up the iPod- or stereo for those who don't own an iPod- and get riding! It’s a killer workout that truly does wonders. Keep A DiaryKeeping a diary or journal can be a big asset in weight loss. Write down what was consumed and how much, the hunger level prior to eating and any feelings or emotions that are going on. The diary will help someone stay focused and how track to achieving their weight loss goals. Focus On Being Healthy And Not ThinMany people find that they’re more successful at achieving long-term weight loss if they focus on being healthier and not just being skinnier. Thinking about what foods will help keep a person healthy and not just foods that will make them thinner, will affect the body’s weight. Why Are You Overeating? If a person is overeating they need to figure out they are eating too much. Is it stress, loneliness, anger, depression? These are all reasons why many people start overeating. Dealing with emotions without food, this will help get control back and start losing weight. Get Yourself A Support GroupEncouragement and support from others is very important in successful long-term weight loss. Many programs like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers have places in your area where people come to talk about their weight loss and get tips and advice from people just like themselves who have been there. Start SmallPlease remember that weight loss doesn't happen over night. Fat loss is better achieved when weight loss happens slowly. Set a weight loss goal at losing one to two pounds a week. Small changes like eating 250 calories less a day and trying to lose about 250 calories a day from exercise will help lose one two pounds, of mostly fat, a week.
