Power Push is a personalized workout DVD set delivered monthly to break up boredom, increase intensity and ensure quick weight-loss results.

Many weight loss and fitness programs end because the routine gets boring, and as your body adjusts, the program stops working. The key to making your workout work for you is to mix it up every 4 to 6 weeks so you keep burning fat.

Power Push is a new idea in fitness where you complete an online profile, set your weight loss goals, choose a trainer that fits your style and receive workout DVDs in the mail. The first set from Power Push includes three DVDs, resistance bands, a magnet, a workout calendar, stickers and a nutritional plan to help you lose weight.

Power Push offers a gym-quality workout at home. The exercises are led by certified trainers at a small fraction of the cost that a live personal trainer would cost. Each month you’ll get another set of three DVD workouts where your personal trainer will push your limits by gradually increasing the intensity. The moves get harder as you get stronger and become more flexible. By challenging yourself in this way and mixing up your workout every month, you will be able to avoid hitting a plateau and getting off track.

If you start the Power Push workout from a more advanced place, supersets are available to give you an extra push. Just press "enter" on the DVD remote when you see the prompt on the screen and you’ll get instructions for a more advanced exercise.

The trainers are well-qualified, with varied backgrounds. You probably recognize more than one of them, including Bob Harper, a trainer on the Biggest Loser. The trainer on my Power Push workout is Jessica Smith. She guides me through the moves with gentle encouragement. She is lean, strong and confident. Her voice is steady and she isn’t irritating or jittery like a lot of workout trainers. The DVDs are motivating because ithey really are like a one-on-one training session. She walks through each exercise and includes reminders about form, alignment, protecting neck muscles and developing core strength. The backdrop is made up of colorful graphics and shooting stars, and there is a sidebar that counts down the time left for each section of the exercise routine.

Each Power Push DVD starts with a warm-up to loosen muscles, followed by a series of resistance training movements. It ends with light stretching. Some of the exercises incorporate the light and heavy resistance bands that come with the set; others require a chair. All other moves performed on the DVD only require body resistance.

Power Push is a total body workout. It works the glutes, hamstrings, abs, arms, legs, chest, hips, obliques and shoulder muscles.

Power Push features a variety of exercises and twist on classic moves, including:

The Power Push DVD workout set, along with 100 minutes of cardio per week, is all you need to get fit, to define muscle and to lose weight. Some of the moves were difficult for me to follow at first, but over time I was able to improve my performance. The best benefit is that for $25 per month you get a fresh workout so you’ll never get bored with the exercise and your body will respond well to the change in routine.
